  • Access to the student directory (ie. contact information for your kid’s friends)
  • It is a great way to meet other parents and teachers!
  • Have a  say or a vote on things that matter like who our officers will be or how we spend our money.

  • Be more engaged with your child’s school and your kid(s) WILL notice!

How much does membership cost?

Membership is free! In the past we charged a membership fee but we’ve found that we reach more parents when membership is free and open to everyone. We want you to feel welcome to join and participate! With that said, there is an option to make a donation when you join. Please consider making a donation to help us put on some of the programs your student(s) enjoys.

What does the PTO even do?

Our PTO organizes or supports many enrichment activities and events that benefit all our students, teachers, and families. Below are just a few examples of what kinds of things we do:

  • Finance class field trips
  • Purchase T-shirts for all new Glencliff students
  • Organize and run an After School Enrichment Program (ASEP)
  • Finance visiting authors
  • Finance and organize various assemblies and events held at the school during the school year
  • Organize family friendly events at school such as: ice cream socials, fun runs, science night, math night, family movie night, etc...
  • Provide additional school supplies for students
  • Finance classroom rewards such as pizza parties
  • Offer mini grants for teachers for curriculum enrichment
  • Organize and run a pre-K program for incoming kindergartners and so much more....

How awful is fundraising… do I have to sell stuff?

As parents ourselves, we get it... fundraising is sort of a dirty word. We try our best to keep our fundraising fun, simple and to a minimum. We understand that you have a lot on your plate and do not want to feel obligated to sell stuff to family and friends. We offer a few different ways to fundraise - choose which ways work best for you!

  1. Direct donation: If you would like to make a donation and ignore all our fundraising efforts - GREAT!  We love donations! Ask if your employer has a matching program … we are an official charity!
  2. Passive Fundraisers: These are fundraisers that require very little work on your part. You can return bottles and cans using our Clynk bottle return program, scan receipts for BoxTops or shop like you usually do at certain retailers and we will get a little money back. They require practically no work yet they are surprisingly profitable.
  3. Family Dinner Nights: Throughout the year we arrange family dinner nights out at restaurants in the local area that are also fundraisers. The restaurants are all places you probably already go to and all offer a takeout option. The restaurant returns to us a percentage of the proceeds for the evening. It’s a fun and easy excuse to take the night off from cooking!
  4. Traditional Fundraising: We do from time to time have traditional style fundraisers. When doing a fundraising sale, we try to find unique products that will appeal to as many of our families as possible.

How can I help out with the PTO?

We have a list of committee’s and positions on our website that we need help with. What interests you most? From gardening to planning events … we need all sorts of skill sets and talents to make our PTO successful!

What is “kid mail”?

Sometimes we will refer to “kid mail” in our communication. This is literally the use of your student as a delivery service to the school and back home. You simply instruct your child to hand in the item (form, money, note etc…) to their teacher or to the office. We strongly suggest clearly marking the item with information on who it is going to and who it is from.  If something is coming home via “kid mail”, the item will be given to your child by their teacher and it will come home in their backpack at the end of the day.

What is a Homeroom Parent?

Homeroom parents simply help plan and coordinate classroom celebrations per the teachers request. This involves communicating with your student’s teacher and the rest of the parents from your class. Oftentimes they will coordinate a class gift for their teacher at the end of the year and will also help the teacher with any other requests they might have during the school year.

How will I know what is going on?

Once you sign up for our website, you will be on our email list! We send out a weekly newsletter with information about what is coming up. We also will send out emails from time to time with specific announcements. In addition to our email communications we will post updates on our website, our facebook page, and our instagram page. And if that is not enough - we will often send flyers home as well. We also hold a monthly PTO meeting where you can find out all sorts of good information and be a part of the conversation!

Why do we need a PTO?

  • Without additional fundraising and planning on our part, many of the fun activities your kid(s) love, enjoy and take for granted would simply not be possible. Basically we help enrich your student’s educational experience.
  • Our super dedicated teachers and staff take care of your kiddos, their own families, work beyond the set school day and also donate quite a bit of their personal time to additional evening school activities that are well beyond their paid hours. The least we can do is donate a little bit of our own time to match theirs.
  • Parents and Teachers working together makes everything better for our kiddos!
